We have retained the Boston law firm of Hemenway and Barnes. They
are experienced with Avalon Bay, having opposed them in other cases.
AvalonBay's stragey has been to run up our costs so we will quit.
Legal fees have already exceeded $117,000. If the case goes to
trial
in Land Court in October, 2002, as appears likely, costs may exceed
$50,000. Our case is strong on many fronts, but we must raise
funds
to continue the fight or they could win by default. We are thankful
to the Bedford residents who have already contributed to the legal
defense, thus enabling us to make the progress we have.
